TELEHEALTH SERVICES

Online Therapy and Teletherapy via Phone

In addition to providing traditional face-to-face therapy in a private office setting, the psychologists at Ware Wellness Group offer telehealth services, including telephone and online therapy via videoconferencing.

Recent studies examining client satisfaction with telepsychology indicate high levels of satisfaction.  Since the COVID-19 pandemic, insurance companies have agreed to reimburse clients for services received via telehealth at the same rates as services received in person.  This shift in reimbursement policy greatly enhances accessiblity of mental health services for many individuals.

Here's what you need to know about telehealth:

"Telehealth" refers to email, telephone, and videotherapy.

Confidentiality still applies for telehealth services, and nobody will record a session without permission from the other person(s).  Ware Wellness adheres to all HIPAA and best practices for telehealth, including secure internet connections and a HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platform that uses only North American servers for our meetings.  However, any electronic/online mode of communication can be compromised despite best security practices.  It is important that you use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi.

There are potential benefits and risks of telehealth.  Convenience is a significant benefit.  Risks include dropped calls, failed online connections, or other technical difficulties.  You need to use a webcam or smartphone for videotherapy.

In case of technical problems, your psychologist will try to reconnect; if that fails, you will receive a phone call or email to reschedule.

If you are in imminent danger during your telehealth session, your psychologist may need to contact your emergency contact and/or contact emergency services at your location.

If you are not an adult, your parent or legal guardian must consent and provide contact information.

If you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, it's your responsibility to confirm with your insurance company that telehealth services are reimbursed.

Your psychologist may determine that telehealth is not appropriate and arrange for in-person meetings.
